Adda – rendezvous

     Adda is a typical Bengali term use for rendezvous. Sometimes meaning of adda is shelter also. But generally its meaning is rendezvous. It is mixed with Bengali culture and heritage. From 8 years age to 80 years, like adda, dream adda, feel adda and you can say live in adda. Some people say it’s indulge Bengali people, destroy work culture, make idle, lazy. But Bengali literature-culture-music-film-friendship made, make and will make through this.

ADDA AT SIDE OF STREET 

INDIAN COFFEE HOUSE ( KOLKATA) 

     Indian coffee house of Kolkata, is a renowned place for adda, specially for intellectual people. Early days people use ‘chandi mandop’ (space for worship of Goddess Durga), royal court of king, nabab, zaminder(land lord) etc. women’s are make adda at mainly at ghat (bathing place at bank of river and pond). Now chandimandop and ghat we can see in village. In city we use drawing room to terrace, balcony to stare, club to restaurant, coffee shop to tea stall, restaurant to bar, stadium to cinema hall every place we use for adda.

     Adda is incomplete without tea sometime coffee, mury ( rice fry on hot sand) tele-bhaja (fry), toast or sandwich or any other fast-food.
